She Got Married (And it Wasn’t to Me)
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI
There’s a hole in my heart
you could drive a truck thru
Sometimes I can hardly breathe
And I wonder if it ever will ever, ever heal right
When the sun rises and sets on you like a dream
I blindly stare into the dusky mist, my eyes fog over
Without you I am lost,
No one could ever take your place or replace your kiss
I’m --- at a loss

‘Cause she got married, and it wasn’t to me
After all this time, she found someone new
Someone to hold her, and take her love seriously
Someone whose love was true

In my mind snap shots of a family that will never be
Because you married him instead of me
Am I destined to be the old man at the end of the road
who never comes out of his house because can’t crack the code?
You were my first, through thick and thin, in so many ways
I guess you won’t be the last
‘Cause she got married, and it wasn’t to me
After all this time, she found someone new
Someone to hold her, and take her love seriously
Someone whose love was true
I figured sure, I suppose, well I never really thought,
Will you be the one that got away?
Drifting farther away down this river of life,
time forgets what we once had…
In a moment of bitter weakness, I turn to you
But you are far away
Lost to time are the memories we once shared
I look there to find only dreams.
Everything I’ve learned I realize I’ve learned nothing at all
Inside I slowly decay

‘Cause she got married, and it wasn’t to me
After all this time, she found someone new
Someone to hold her, and take her love seriously
Someone whose love was true
Someone whose love was true
Someone whose love is true

Wire My Hay
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI

You wire my hay
Keep me in the right way
Lead me back when I go astray
You wire my hay
Sometimes I feel like a ship off course
A victim of a natural force
Right my way with a gentle nudge
The only one that can make me budge
You wire my hay
Keep me in the right way
Guide my path when it goes awry
Gentle as a lullaby
Toss and turn at the end of my wits
Tho’ my night is full of fits
Through your eyes I can set the scene
Make it like it was a dream
Sometimes I feel so blind
Eyes open to the cruel and shut to the kind
Charm so bright it can melt a chain
And show me how to see again (Stop)
You wire my hay…
Keep me in the right way
Lead me back when I go astray
You wire my hay

Miss Your Kiss
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI
From the moment the sun had hit my face
I knew for a kiss that we were in the wrong place
It dawned on me, I had missed my chance
The first time I met you I felt my heart lift
Now I find myself yearning for those lips
I can hardly wait, for our next romance
Don’t wanna miss it, I don’t wanna miss it
You’re gonna miss it, you know your gonna miss it
Gonna miss it, you know you’re gonna miss it
Like a bus missed its stop gonna miss your kiss
From our first embrace, I knew right away
That in your arms is where I wanted to stay
And our first kiss, truly felt like I was home
Next time for certain won’t hesitate
For some things in life, you just can’t wait
I realize, every kiss could be our last one
Don’t wanna miss it, I don’t wanna miss it
You’re gonna miss it, you know your gonna miss it
Gonna miss it, you know you’re gonna miss it
Like-bread misses butter gonna miss your kiss
I’d miss a plane for you
Chase after a train for you
But there’s one thing that I don’t wanna do
And that’s miss a kiss from you!
Don’t wanna miss it, I don’t wanna miss it
You’re gonna miss it, you know your gonna miss it
Gonna miss it, you know you’re gonna miss it
Like a bee misses honey gonna miss your kiss
Like a honey bee misses honey
Like bread misses butter
Like a bus missed its stop
Like sand misses the sun
Like the night misses the moon
Like the rose misses the morning dew

I Wish I Were A Dozen Roses
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI
I wish I were a dozen roses
So I could send myself to you
Put me on your nightstand baby
So I could be right next to you
If I had a thousand horses
I’d send them thundering towards you
At the first sign of danger darlin’
To protect and defend you
And if I found a vein of rubies
A perfect match for your sunset hair
I’d dig it up and polish the gemstones
A keepsake for you to wear
I wish I were a dozen roses
So I could send myself to you
Deliver me to your doorstep baby
So I could be right next to you
If I could control the moon
I’d light up your night’s sky
Unravel your heart and make it fly
The petals may dry and fall
Keep them anyway
Love remains tho’ things begin to fray
If a dragonfly flutters before you
With hazel wings and amber eyes
Send her back through the forests baby
So I can know your thoughts are on my side
I wish I were…
Special delivery for you darlin’
Oh those amber eyes
Heartstrings begin to fray
Keep them anyway

All I Think About
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI

All I think about is kissing you and holding you and lovin' you and makin' you mine
I got one thought baby on my one-track mind
And it's you, baby, it's you

I got one way about me and I know it ain't right
There's no use in trying to figure it out
She's a hot mama, hot lips gorgeous little thing
I'm in deep without a doubt

You drive me crazy, baby, if you're near or far
I start to tremble the closer I get
You look good little darlin' under the sun or the stars
Days and nights I can't forget

When a green-eyed cowboy meets a blue-eyed girl
Don't need a genius to figure it out
The sparks are gonna fly with you and I!

When we get married in that little white church
Everyone will be looking at you
They'll be thinking what a day, what a beautiful bride
But all I'll be thinking about...is you!

All I think about is kissing you and holding you and lovin' you and makin' you mine
I got one thought baby on my one-track mind
And it's you, baby, it's you

Candy Apple Red
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI
Stylin’ those sandals she doesn’t walk, she prances
I can’t help myself I just love it when she gets out and dances
Those long lean blue jeans, they’re fittin’ her style.
The color on her nails is driving me wild.
Soft porcelain toes, candy apple red.
Woo, oh candy apple red, and those soft baby blues
A snug T shirt that’s more snug than it should
Its curves like hers that gets me up every day
Life is so easy when she loves me all the way
Whoa baby, … when she loves me all the way.
Laying on the porch swing, rockin’ the afternoon sun
Gently swinging after some midday fun
Fit and tan she lounges as she cuddles
Blowin’ my mind as she purrs and nuzzles
Helping me forget places I gotta be
Woo, candy apple red and those soft baby blues
Lucky for me I'm the one you choose
Cherry lips, sweet as pie
Lie with me baby for a little while
Whoa – just a little while
Whoa I just don’t know ---
--Oh, what I’d do without her soul --
I knew I had to have her, yes I knew I had to have her…
I knew I had to have her, yes I knew I had to have her!
Later that night when all is said and done.
We turn on a little Hank and stoke the fun
Lightin’ candles, and pouring some whiskey
Smooth and sassy she gets a little frisky
In over my head, I know I’m done…
Woo, candy apple red…

Patsy’s Grill
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI

There’s a place tucked away in a little town I know
Where you can always find a smile whenever you go
There’s bikers & businessmen and girls that will thrill
Down ‘round the corner, at Patsy’s Grill
Well, there’s music and catfish and good ole bar-be-que
Beer and shots, darts and pool, white collar and blue
There are women, all sizes & types, never run of the mill
Down ‘round the corner, at Patsy’s Grill

It’s the place that you know, a home away from home
Just past where the pavement ends
Whether you’re in Flint, Rio or Rye, here’s mud in your eye
A Patsy’s is just, down the block, and open all night---
Out off the freeway at the edge of the county line
Friday night boys are dukin’ it out, then shakin’ hands in no time
Your 30 best friends are looking for you, to pay the bill
Down ‘round the corner at Patsy’s Grill
Come on home, to Patsy’s Grill
You probably have a Patsy’s in your hometown
Where best buds meet when they’re Friday night bound
Don’t be a stranger, be sure to stop by
And join us for a round, (stop) on the record or on the sly

I Want to Be in Love
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI
I want to be in love, with a woman,
who wants to be in love with me
I want that love light, shinning down on me.
In my mind, I see your face
A witness, to your heavenly grace
And I know we said let’s take it slow
But you can’t tell this heart when to * stop or when to go
I want to be in love, with a woman,
who wants to be in love with me
I want that love light, shinning down on me.
I want to be your rock
I want to be your shelter in the storm
I want to be the man that you run to when
your heart gets torn
I want you to be, so in love with me
As much as I’m in love with you
In my mind, you’ll always by my side
A beautiful soul, so loving, so true inside
When I’m with you I am heavenly blest
Just be yourself and let Cupid do the rest.
I want to be in love, with you forever,
with you, in love with me
I want your love, shining down, on me
Shine it down on me
Shine it on me…
Shine it down, shine it down shine it down… on me.

Heart of America
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI
Doesn’t matter what church you go to
Doesn’t matter where your accent’s from
Doesn’t matter what states you crossed through
The heart of America, beats in everyone
Said the heart of America, it beats in everyone
Firemen gear up and drive for hours
Cross country to lend a hand
Men saddle up to restore power
far away from their home land
Because the heart of America, beats in everyone
And it doesn’t matter the color of your skin
Doesn’t matter what state you’re in
If you were born here or took the oath
The heart beats for everyone
The heart beats for everyone
From California to New Jersey, from Texas to Illinois
American brothers and sisters support one and all
It doesn’t matter the time of night, or day of the week
You need me – I’ll be there, it’s a promise I’ll keep
You know it’s a promise I’ll keep
On 9/11 there were folks from all over
Doing their duty, showing their love
Hurricanes and forest fires, tornadoes and floods
The heart of America, beats in everyone
The heart of America, beats in everyone
Said the heart of America, it beats in everyone

Haven’t Said I Love You Yet (It’s Not About You)
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI
Just forget it
Every word I said
I never promised you the sun and the stars
Even a spot in my bed
Let me just say this
It wasn’t love at first sight
I don’t know where I am on your list, mama
Or if I may or if I might
But there’s one thing I need you to know
One you care to forget
Whatever I do please keep in mind
I haven’t said I love you
I haven’t said I love you
I haven’t said I love you…yet
I apologize
I put the brakes on it
Was our relationship the perfect size?
Or was it shrink to fit?
You don’t seem to mind
How we waste our time
Those three little words ain’t a crime
I’ll plan my getaway
When I’ve run out of things to say
Why stay when I have to pay?
Please forgive me
If I went too fast or too slow
I know I sent you mixed blessings baby
When I was too hot or too cold
Don’t you blame me
If it wasn’t meant to be
I’ll keep coming to your rescue, darlin’
As long as you’ll rescue me
There’s one thing I need you to know
One you care to forget
Whatever I do please keep in mind
I haven’t said I love you
I haven’t said I love you
I haven’t said I love you…yet
I think it all went to your head
So just forget every word I said

Treasure (The Best Part of Her)
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI

The bus pulled out on the long road to Memphis
Leaving it all behind
When I got the phone call, I knew it would send us
Apart for the very first time
The man next to me said son, you look lonesome
As the white lines rolled on by
That's 'cause without her, I'd rather have no one
I'll try to tell you why

She gives me sunshine, she gives me rain
She gives me the world when I take the blame
She'll hold my hand when mine begins to stir
But that's not the best part of her

Whiskey-colored eyes I drink in her beauty
Her hair like silk on my chin
But inside her heart there's something you can't see
A treasure that comes from within

She gives me sunshine, she gives me rain
She gives me the world when I take the blame
She'll hold my hand when mine begins to stir
But that's not the best part of her

My heart breaks every time we say goodbye
A gem is only a vow
My heart aches with tears in my eyes
What will my heart do now?
What will my heart do now?

She gives me sunshine, she gives me rain
She gives me the world when I take the blame
She'll hold my hand when life becomes a blur
But that's not the best part of her
That's not the best part of her

She gives me sunshine, she gives me rain

The Gap
Copyright (c) by James Vitarius and Mark Dau / BMI

It takes two to tango, and one to run
It takes two to tango, baby, and one to run
No matter how much sugar you get
Two cups are better than one

I see the porch lights flicker, the ghost of your love
I see the room lights flicker, baby, the ghost of your love
I guess you had to make your choice
Between an eagle and a dove

You can't be in love by yourself
I don't wanna go through life with anyone else
If you keep the curtains closed, the light won't shine through
I wanna close the gap with you

Searching through the pictures of the albums of our life
You're in every one next to me
Time changes people, but it don't mean it's time
To give up on our love and set me free

Two wrongs don't make a right, just like a house ain't a home
Two wrongs don't make a right, just like a house ain't a home
Room and board just ain't enough
If I still feel alone

You can't be in love by yourself
I don't wanna go through life with anyone else
If you keep the curtains closed, the light won't shine through
I wanna close the gap with you

Open up those curtains, mama, and let that light shine through
So I can close the gap with you
